Hi,
I have configured a MediaWiki (v1.13.2) server in my intranet and Im trying
to log in from another server in the same net. To get it, I reuse the login
form of the later site (called main_login), calling the following
javascript function when it is submitted (onsubmit):
<script>
function loginMediawiki() {
document.wiki_login.wpName.value=document.main_login.username.value;
document.wiki_login.wpPassword.value=document.main_login.passwd.value;
document.wiki_login.submit();
return true;
}
</script>
<form
action="/mediawiki/index.php?title=Especial:UserLogin&action=submitlogin&typ
e=login" method=POST name="wiki_login" target="wiki_login_window">
<input type="hidden" name="wpName" value="">
<input type="hidden" name="wpPassword" value="">
<input type="hidden" name="wpLoginattempt" value="Registrarse/Entrar">
</form>
At first site, it seems to work: a new window appears and states that the
user has logged in successfully. But in fact does not, because when I click
on any link that requires authorization, it asks me to log in first to see
the content. It is not until I log in using MediaWikis login form that Im
allowed to access all restricted content.
Ive compared the POSTs generated by my form and by MediaWikis form and
they are much the same, excepting the Referrer header (as the form is sent
from different sites. So I do not know why it does not work, maybe there is
some kind of initialization that is necessary and is being bypassed using
the external form? Anyway, is there a way to get logged in MediaWiki that
way?
Thanks in advance!

hi all,
my hoster said to me that mediawiki 1.13.2 isn't anymore compatible with
my server, I have to use 1.13.0. I really don't know why, they are not
reply me.
My server configuration is:
Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 (etch)
PHP Version 5.2.0-8+etch11
MySQL - 5.0.32-Debian_7etch5 (MySQL client version: 4.0.24)
if I install a new mediawiki software I am not able to edit the chapter
inside my pages:
example:
=1=
=2=
.....
I can only edit the whole page, If I edit a sigle "chapter" I have a DB
error, it says: unable to contact the DB.
How can I solve it?

Hello !
SemanticMediaWiki seems to be a really great tool ! But I have a question I
didn't find the answer on the website.
Can the property names be translated ? i.e. [[beats::3]] (in english) would
be the same as [[temps::3]] (in french), and a search for "beats" or "temps"
give the same result.

I see on Wikipedia a cool horizontal "fund raising thermometer" on
every page.
I looked at the generated source for the page, and looked through the
Javascript that is downloaded from other files, but I cannot figure
out how that is done, which puzzles me a bit.
I need to do a similar thing on one of the MediaWiki sites I run.
Any suggestions for integrating a fund raising thermometer into
MediaWiki? Can anyone explain to me how it is done on Wikipedia?
Thanks!

Hello List,
I'd like to have a little ajax-form which posts the form-data to a php
file. The echo of this file should be displayed with update to a
textarea.
So far i got:
{{#form:action=http://myserver/myfile.php|method=post|
{{#input:type = text| name = problem }}
{{#input: type = ajax | value = send problem | update = output}}
}}
<div id="output"></div>
Error: unknown function wfSimpleFormsAjax
(the phpfile is not yet existing)
Is my plan possible at all?
Is it possible to hide the input-fields after sending?
Thank you!
Best Regards
P.M.

I believe the OP suggested export/import because they had fallen way
behind, and lacked confidence in an upgrade process that is generally
designed for Wikipedia's needs of strictly sequential incremental
upgrades.
I am in the same situation, running 1.3. Short of upgrading to 1.4,
then 1.5, then 1.6... I don't believe this posting really addresses
strategies for someone who is way behind to "catch up." The further
you are behind, the more likely something will break, no matter how
carefully one follows the instructions for upgrading from 1.13.1 to
1.13.2.
Anyone have any good strategies going from 1.3 to current? I'm
planning on making a complete copy, accessed from a new URL, and
trying the upgrade on that. But I'm doubtful that such an upgrade will
be fruitful.

I'm trying to get a better idea of some of the problems that I might run
into if I attempt this. Availability of our wiki needs to remain high, and
while we do have a backup wiki to go to, I wanted to see if there were any
major issues that have been documented when upgrading from this version.
I've found quite a bit of info already through mediawiki site and google,
but nothing specific to these versions. If I've missed an existing post on
line, my apologies.
Thanks in advance.

hi there,
we wanted to update our mediawiki-isntallation with mediawiki 1.12.0.
we noticed the patch file and the tar.gz have wrong md5 sums here:
http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/mediawiki-announce/2008-October/000078…
is there any "normal" reason for this ? we would like to get our
mediawiki up-to-date,
thankful for any help!
greetings,
elias
ps:
is it wiser / less hassle to backup everything (config, db, skins) and
then reinstall with 1.13.2 ??
