I was using a flash extension with a 1.6.3 version of Mediawiki (can't
remember the name, but it used a pseudo-html tag <gflash> for markup),
but can't find the page for it anymore, so I can't get the most recent
version, no the install instructions. Have also tried
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Flash/Flash_v1.0, but while the
installation process is quite easy, it didn't work on my wiki.
Which flash plugins have people had success with in MW 1.6.9? And, in
general, which ones do people like best (there seem to be a lot more of
them coming out).
A Quicktime MW plugin would also be good, but I haven't seen one of those.
Thanks,
Ken
Hi,
I'm trying to come up with code that can tell me whether or not a
given category has articles or not. Naturally, I borrowed some code
from CategoryPage.php. This is what I got up to:
$res2 = $dbr->select(
array( 'page', 'categorylinks' ),
array( 'page_title' ),
array( 'cl_from = page_id', 'cl_to' => $title->getArticleID()),
$fname,
array('LIMIT' => 1 ));
echo $res2;
echo $dbr->fetchObject($res2);
The "echo $res2" spouts off a "Resource #12" or whatever, but the
second echo doesn't leave anything.
Now, my knowledge of MySQL is limited, and my knowledge of how it
works in MediaWiki is even worse, so bear with me. I realize this is
largely completely wrong. Am I on the right track at all?
For some context, I'm in the "replaceLinkHolders" function in
Parser.php. This is where it goes through the links and decides
whether to make them active or not. Basically, I just need to know if
a category (represented by $title = $this->mLinkHolders['titles']
[$key];) has any articles, which I can determine by performing a
database query. I'm just having trouble figuring out how to get some
kind of result at all. If I can do at least that, I can fill in the
rest.
Help?
Please how can I configure the navigation panel?
I have tried to access the special pages for that possibility. But I dont seem to get it.
Secondly, is that how adsense is also configured onto the sidebar?

Just an FYI: When we used "python" as in a snake in one of our wiki
articles, the article gave us an error message/forbidden to write message.
So, I realized (after a bit when I finally narrow down the sentence
causing the issue) that MediaWiki was interpreting this as Python -- the
programming language. As a work around/fix, we added the
<nowiki></nowiki> tags around our snake e.g., <nowiki>python</nowiki>.
I am trying to autocreate redirect pages using a custom tag
(extension) but getting a UNIQ message with the Article::doEdit
command. Is what I'm trying to do at possible? This is the code:
$title = Title::makeTitle( NS_MAIN, trim($redirName) );
if( is_object($title) ) {
if( !$title->exists() ) {
$redirArticle = new Article( $title );
$text = '#REDIRECT [['.$parser->mTitle->getPrefixedText().']]';
$redirArticle->doEdit($text, "Adding Redirect");
}
}

Hi,
Is it possible to change the text at the top of the search results page?
I would like to add a couple of searching tips to the top of the page.
I'm running 1.6.9.
Thanks
Tom
I note that I can simply mention the URL of a .png file, and it shows
up in the page.
If I do the same with a .svg file, it shows up as a link instead of
an embedded image.
Is there a trick to get this to work?
Rob and Brion:
That's exactly what I need.
Thanks so much for hour help with this! I really appreciate it :)

These cause writes to the various debug logs; another one to look out
for is wfDebugLogFile, which directs debugging output to a specific
log group.
See $wgDebugLogFile and $wgDebugLogGroups (both commented in
includes/DefaultSettings.php) for further details.

Set $wgDebugLogFile to point to a (writable) file; debug messages will
be sent there.
Note that you can also assign messages to individual log files by using
wfDebugLog() instead of wfDebug() and setting up separate files for the
groups you're interested in in $wgDebugLogGroups

Just installed 1.8.2 on windows 2000 with IIS, everything went well, but after the “Setup your wiki” page runs fine, I get the following errors after browsing to the site.

Any help with this error would be appreciated.
