Renaming/moving wikis?

(Sorry if this is a duplicate, had email issues) Hi, When I installed my first Wiki, I installed it as www.domain.com/wiki. Not very original, I know... Now that I have 5 Wikis, I'd like to use /wiki as a list of my Wikis. What is the best way to move my original Wiki to a new virtual directory? Thanks! Simon

How to let people stay logged in

We used MediaWiki via https among a trusted set of people. How can we make MediaWiki allow users to stay logged in? In other words, how can we make it so their cookie is all they need so that they are already logged in the next time they go to the site after having quit the browser?

'Randompage' in robots.txt should be 'Random'?

The file robots.txt on wikipedia.org contains: Disallow: /wiki/Special:Randompage Disallow: /wiki/Special%3ARandompage but the actual link is Special:Random - not Special:Randompage, so shouldn't robots.txt contain: Disallow: /wiki/Special:Random Disallow: /wiki/Special%3ARandom The current setting lets Google index random pages. Now when you select a search result, Google will serve you another (random) page - NOT the page as suggested in the search results. For example, search Google for: allinanchor:"Special:Random" site:wikipedia.org and click on link '../wiki/Special:Random'. Freddy Vulto http://www.fvue.nl/wiki/

How to change the sidebar width?

How would I change the sidebar width? (I'm using monobook). Actually, I want to get rid of the whole sidebar, which I figured out how to do, but now I have the empty space where it used to be, and I want to have the content of the page fill up that space. Thanks. - Mark

At the bottom of all pages is a link: About [Name of my MediaWiki site] which at present takes you to a page called Project:About. Where is this link set? How can I change it to point to another page? Thanks! Nigel http://www.nemo-net.eu/

How to change log in text in upper right corner

Hello, Running v.1.7.1, how can I change the text in the upper right corner to just say "log in" instead of "log in / create account"? I'm going to set up a different channel for creating an account. Gallery Icons

In the 1.8.2 release on the Specialpage 'Gallery of new files', I have a nice icon for pdf files, but doc, ppt, ....are blank images. The link to the files works just fine, but I would like to define an icon for those file types. How would I set that value? Andy

Saving Edits Results In "can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1"

I have been running MediaWiki for some time now and recently when users save edits to a page they get the error: can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1 When the edited page is visited I can see that the edits have been applied but the fact that users now get this error makes things kind of undesirable. I have looked through LocalSettings.php but I don't see anything of note. The only other thing that I can think of is my recent attempt to install ImageMagic which was unsuccessful. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks - c
