Does anyone know how to control the capitalization of first letter at login?
I don't want it to be capitalized.
If anyone knows where to handle this, please let me know.
Good day.

IIS5 is certainly possible you just need php setup with it.
Other databases aren't supported but I imagine if you can find the
references and calls to the database in the appropriate php files you
could modify them accordingly.
I am sure someone else has tried this and can comment further.

I have PHP up and running on the server in question. I could install MySQL,
but being able to use the exisitng database would sure be handy and less
resource intensive. Thanks!
Hi all,
Let's say I have a page I want to use as template. However, let's say this page
has external links at the bottom.
My question is: If I don't want those links, can I include just part of this
page as template?
Or in order words: Can I say how many lines I want to be included in other page
using 'referring to the template'?
I think this tool in a template command would be very, very powerful.
thanks a lot,
mauro.

I was hoping to use an existing server and database here, IIS5 and MSSQL
Server 2000. Is this possible?
Thanks!

Good afternoon gurus and gurettes,
I have been searching the site and the web and it appears that MediaWiki
requires Apache and MySQL (I want to reconfig my servers, but corporate
policy will not allow me to accomplish this at the moment). I was hoping to
use an existing server and database here, IIS5 and MSSQL Server 2000. Is
this possible? Can someone point me to any documentation? I tried searching
the mailing list archive, but so far I've found nothing mentioned.
Thanks!
Jay
hello,
sorry to ask again on a very often seen subject, but I
haven't really understood all :-(
I need to make update from 1.5.1 (or 2, I don't remember) to
the last one. anyway this happen at any new version.
what will I have to do to really don't have to reconfigure all?
is it enough to just save LocalSettings.php and replace all
the others things?
if I copy back LocalSettings.php, can I delete the config
folder and go on? or may I first configure then copy
LocalSettings.php?
thanks

If I add a category link, on some general page, like:
[[Category: Weird things]]
the category page does not yet exist. I get a message like Wiki does not
yet have a Category page called Weird things category page
Is there a way to make sure this page IS created automatically? Or is there
an easy way to programmatically do it?
Thanks.

Hi,
I'm trying to migrate my wiki from a PHP5/MySql4.1 server to a
PHP4.4.1/MySql4.1 server. I'm using PHPMyAdmin to move the database
and following all the steps described in the mediawiki help.
The problem: Mediawiki connects to the database, recognize all the
users logins and passwords, but shows no content. It seems like a
blank wiki, mediawiki ignores all the articles in the database.
Am I missing something?
Thank you very much!
Hello again :-)
I manage several mediawikis.
I would like to allow a new "data" namespace, similar to the
image one, but using a new separate folder and a much
simpler sheme, that is The sysop would be the only one to
have the rights on this folder.
upload only by ftp, no special page needed
I would like to use a name space to have a simpler syntax
for users, [[data:xxxxxxxxxxx.tgz]] in place of the whole
link I need now.
I can make a reasonably simple php hack.
however I don't mind to hack again and again for each new
release.
Do you have any guideline for me showing how I can do this?
I plan to use the [[image: code, and make it very simple for
my use
thanks

I have been running mediawiki 1.5.5
Right now my site is down. All I get is:
Error in fetchObject(): Can't find file: 'page.MYI' (errno: 2)
When I go in phpmyadmin, I see all these terrible error messages every where saying things like:
#1016 - Can't open file: 'objectcache.MYI'. (errno: 145)
I can read the cur table. I see lots of what once my site was still there.
When I make a backup of the datbase I can see all the data, but when I try to restore it to a new database, I only get the first 25 rows, and none of these apear to contain any usefull data.
How would you suggest I try to restore the data? How can I avoid such database coruption in the future?
