Thanks Brion. The upgrade will be made, possibly this night or tomorrow. We're thinking in upgrade to 1.4.4 when we see that 1.4.5 was released, so... it will be 1.4.5 ... When I use a link like this [[/subpage1]] in a page with name Prueba , the name of the new page is /subpage1 instead Prueba/subpage1... The other evidence of that in this version, only this not work, is the fact of the back-link.... in the new page theres no backlink... But in user pages, the subpages works fine. !!!! I think that there must be another setting that I haven't found yet.... The rest of this messages is a little description of some testings that I made. So, may be skipped...(or not :-) ) THANKS. Conversion from tikiwiki

I am presently running a Tikiwiki site from which I would like to convert all the Articles as well as the Wiki pages to Mediawiki. Does anybody have a script for this already, or can someone help me out? I don't know MySql scripting, but I tried the following script to transfer articles from Tikiwiki articles table to MW cur table: INSERT INTO mw_cur(cur_title,cur_text) SELECT tiki_articles.title,tiki_articles.heading FROM tiki_articles WHERE articleId <50; But then, while the titles got successfully transferred, the content (which is in heading tag) didn't - I have no idea why, please help me! Can I follow the same method to import the wiki pages from Tikiwiki as well? Also, some of my articles have content in two rows: Heading and Body - will it be possible to combine them and then enter them into the cur_text row? If so how?

1.4.0 subpages and namespaces

Hello. Please, excuse my bad english, but... is MY bad english :-). I'm working with mediawiki 1.4.0.. I've defined a new namespace CSI with the number 100 in LocalSettings, and I've declared withsubpages.... also, I've activated the subpages in Main..... But... don't work.... The lines of de LocalSettings, relevant to this are: $wgExtraNamespaces[100]="CSI"; ... $wgNamespacesWithSubpages[0]=1; $wgNamespacesWithSubpages[100]=1; What's wrong in this configuration? Thanks. WYSIWIG editing; bulk upload

2 questions: 1) Is there planned support for WYSIWIG editing, like what you get in yahoo email / gmail / blogger / etc. where you see bold/italic/etc. updated in place? If not, any thoughts on how complex a development task to add this as a hack or extension? 2) Does anyone have a script for doing bulk article upload? For a new wiki, I would like to populate it with 20-30 articles that are already written, but I don't want to have to enter them in manually one at a time. Thanks!

There's been some recent discussion in the PHPNuke camp about security issues with it as well. -drmike Quoting ben wiseley <wiseleyb(a)gmail.com>: Most of these sites use some version of http://www.htmlarea.com/ - which is pretty good but definitely not ready for shrink wrapping yet.... which is mostly browser differences (making something like this next to impossible to get perfect). I've worked with their code a lot, it's pretty good but, until browsers come up with a standard I doubt it'll ever be 100% solid.

Java applets

Is it possible to upload and embed Java applets in a mediawiki? If so, how? Do I need to do anything more than add the appropriate extension to $wgFileExtensions? --Emma

I think what would be the most intuitive way would be to have on the history list a revert link next to the diff link and clicking this link would restore the page to the state of that version. This would behave as if the person clicking the link had edited the page, creating a new entry in the history - thus avoiding vandalism. The issue you are having is that "rollback" presumes it is being used as a result of vandalism (usual experience on public wikis) so it rolls back all the edits of the latest editor. Where there was just the one editor therefore it would roll back all their edits. I think what you are asking for is a configurable switch that makes "rollback" just reverse the single most recent edit rather than the edits of the last editor ... I'd like to drill on this a little further. First, let me point out that we have disabled the parser cache ($wgEnableParserCache = false;). I'd like to generalize and point out that the Mediawiki's wikitext has multiple codes/tags that can be used to yank external content into the wikitext of an article. My original example was for a site variable. Another good example is a template. I compared the behavior of the two inclusion techniques. When I update a template, all articles that include the template are rendered with the latest page. In contrast, when a system variable changes, the pages are not rendered with the latest content. Is there anyway to get the template's caching behavior with the variables? I really don't want to turn off browser-side caching in it's entirety as I'm sure it will kill performance. How to generate "printer friendly" pages?

Hello, How can one generate "printer friendly" (without the left-margin sidebar, etc) pages? Does MediaWiki support such a feature? -Matt
