I'm not sure when it got added but it's been
documented and the given
example [1] works in JS
'Box has {{PLURAL:$1|one egg|$1 eggs|12=a dozen eggs}}.'
The feature was added to PHP plural support in
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/23943/ and then added to javascript
in
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/73567 (Bug:
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51284) - in July 2013.
It just doesn't seem to work if I do
'Box has {{PLURAL:$1|one egg|$1 eggs|12=a dozen eggs belonging to $2}}.'
I raised bug
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69993 in
case this is indeed an oversight.
I can confirm the bug. I have a
patch(https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/156237/), need some more
testing.
Thanks
