As of Monday Feb 15, passing a User-Agent header is
*all* HTTP requests to Wikimedia sites. This includes the API.
If you want to thank someone for the change being made 2 days before the
announcement, go find Domas.
Ideally, your User-Agent header should identify your
client in such a
way that Wikimedia staff are able to figure out who to contact if your
client is somehow engaging in disruptive behavior.
Do they pay any attention to the HTTP "From" header defined in RFC 2616
section 14.22 for exactly that purpose?
