Patch acceptance criteria

I'm working on a bot <https://github.com/Inclumedia/MirrorBot> that will gather all data, including revision IDs, as they are made available via the MediaWiki API, by polling list=recentchanges. To make it easier, I'm developing core patches to make more data available via the API. See, e.g., bug 68950 <https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68950>, "log_params should contain the revision IDs of null revisions created by page move events". I don't know why anyone else but me, or someone working on a similar project, would need this feature, but being able to access that data via log_params makes it so I don't have to do a separate prop=revisions query. I was wondering, how do the +2's decide what API features are useful enough to enough people to be worth reviewing and merging? Are they more likely to ask "why" or "why not" when a new API feature is proposed? Are there any developers in particular who'd be interested in reviewing new API features for obscure use cases? RFC 2616[1] 14.43 suggests the user agent field should identify using product tokens ("product"/"version_or_comment") and sub products by convention from most significant to least. API client evaluations complete

Hello all, I'm about 3/4 done with my OPW internship project.[1] I have finished evaluating the libraries I intended to, contacting the maintainers, and filing bug reports/enhancement requests. The evaluations are here.[2] Check them out, add to them, comment on the talk pages, and start evaluating some client libraries yourself if you are so inclined! A couple of people contacted me about evaluating the available PHP libraries. About the page id in "Delete/Restore Page/Revision" recent change updates

Hi all, I found that in the "Delete/Restore Page/Revision" recent change updates, not all of them have page id, sometimes the page id equals to 0. Is it expected or just a bug? If it's expected, can you tell me that what kind of operations will cause the "0 page id" update? Problem using login API on Waze wiki

(also posted on Mediawiki.org on API talk:Login [1]) Hi, My application, WPCleaner [2] works fine on Wikimedia wikis (Wikipedia, Wiktionary, ...), but my attempts to make it work on Waze wiki [3] have failed for now. I don't understand why login doesn't work on Waze wiki. Would someone have an idea about this problem ? The first call to the login method for waze wiki returns a "NeedToken" answer as usual, with a session id in the answer and a wikidb_session cookie. When I call the login method a second time, with wikidb_session cookie set and the token, the answer from waze wiki is again a "NeedToken" with a different session id and wiki_session cookie. Apart from this, the only difference that I noticed is the cookie name: enwikiSession for enwiki, wikidb_session for waze (no uppercase letter and an underscore). &minor= not working

Hey guys and gals, I’m having trouble getting the &minor parameter working. The Post data is minor=&summary=Should+be+minor+&text=Will+restore+soon+-+make+the+codes+easier+to+read&title=Main+Page&token=%2B%5C The result is {"edit":{"result":"Success","pageid":6,"title":"Main Page","contentmodel":"wikitext","oldrevid":452,"newrevid":453,"newtimestamp":"2014-07-07T14:24:29Z"}} But the edit comes out as (diff | hist) . . Main Page‎; 14:24 . . (0)‎ . . ‎94.175.127.24 (Talk | block)‎ (Should be minor) [rollback] Any ideas why?? I thought it might be Windows Runtime messing up but it also fails in Python. Evaluations of Python libraries are complete

As a part of my OPW internship,[1] I've been working on evaluating the fullest-featured and most recently maintained Python libraries against the API client library "gold standard".[2] I've finished evaluating the Python libraries and have emailed the maintainers with feedback. I've also created a central page for all these evaluations on MediaWiki.[3] Over the next two weeks I will be evaluating libraries in Perl, Ruby, and Java. Due to time constraints I will not be evaluating the JavaScript libraries as I had initially planned to. Some of you expressed interest in evaluating libraries in other languages (particularly PHP) yourself! Please feel free to use these evaluations as inspiration for your own, and also to email me or comment on the API:Client code/Evaluations talk page if you have questions or comments. I have been successfully added to the https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/mediawiki-api mailing list, however, I still can not log in to the MediaWiki API. Is there a step I am missing, or am I subscribed to the wrong list?

[Mediawiki-api-announce] Deprecated prop=languageshtml to action=parse is now removed

The 'languageshtml' result property for action=parse has been deprecated for some time now, and with the merge of Gerrit change 143299[1] is now removed entirely.
