How to expand templates, but leave comments

Hi there, I'm using the API to extract the raw wiki text from my pages, using the "?action=query&titles=Main_Page&export&exportnowrap" syntax. That works perfectly. Now I would like to get the templates expanded out in the result, so I use: "?action=query&titles=Main_Page&prop=revisions&rvlimit=1&rvprop=content&rvexpandtemplates", which does the job, as expected, but it also strips out the comments. My problem is that the comments are meaningful to me (I use them to help process the wiki text in subsequent steps). Is there a way to expand templates with the API, but leave the comments intact? Need to extract abstract of a wikipedia page

Hello, I am writing a Java program to extract the abstract of the wikipedia page given the title of the wikipedia page. I have done some research and found out that the abstract with be in rvsection=0 So for example if I want the abstract of 'Eiffel Tower" wiki page then I am querying using the api in the following way. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&prop=revisions&titles=Eiffel… and parse the XML data which we get and take the wikitext in the tag <rev xml:space="preserve"> which represents the abstract of the wikipedia page. But this wiki text also contains the infobox data which I do not need. I would like to know if there is anyway in which I can remove the infobox data and get only the wikitext related to the page's abstract Or if there is any alternative method by which I can get the abstract of the page directly. Questions about the MediaWiki API Component

Hello there! I'm a Flash Video Game Developer working on a word based game. I stumbled across the MediaWiki API component during my research and I've been testing it locally in the game to retrieve word definitions and displaying them in the game for the player. In general, everything works great locally, but there's a few odd issues that I'd like to get worked out, if possible. I actually posted my questions on the MediaWiki forums last night, but just realized that the API specifically requests that questions be sent to this email address. I think so as well. I can confirm though that it is not always returning the first image on a page. Furthermore there are some pages with images, that do not return image tags in the corresponding opensearch result. I would be interested in taking a look at the code that is generating the image tags in the opensearch results, but I have absolutly no idea where I should search for the code. Images in opensearch results

Hi Hope I am posting to the correct list. I am doing an opensearch query via the api (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=opensearch&search=Te). Some search results come with a tiny thumbnail image link. I would like to know if the thumbnails are defined when someone is creating a wikipedia page or if there is some kind of algorithm that automatically creates these thumbnails. Need some help in a simple exportscript

Hi I admit I'm not the sharpest perlprogrammer in the world, so I need some help here. I'm trying to automate some things and I want to use MediaWiki::API. My final goal is to write an exportscript that export all pages in some categories and then an importscript that import the xml-file on another wiki. When I run the script below I get the following error: Use of uninitialized value in print at get_export.pl line 15. Hi Im having trouble to get MediaWiki::API ver. 0.30 to work properly. I'm trying to do build a system which is described below. "The user inputs a word. The system check if word exists at portuguese section of wiktionary. If true, get and show to user the word definiton. If false, sugest (displays) similar words, as in Wiktionary, with her links." This security upgrade has caused issue with my application: The Bugzilla page indicates that the cookie is returned with the first login request. I never used/stored this HTTP cookie, but instead built the cookie using the "enwiki_session=","enwikiUserID=", and other response fields. These fields are no longer present in the first HTTP response (or the second -- which fails due to lack of cookie). Is this functionality we should expect to return? Thanks, -AW -- Andrew G. Make the Parser.php version string available

The SiteInfo query currently provides all sorts of version numbers for the DB, the PHP install itself, etc..., but the one version number that *I*would find useful would be the version string from Parser.php. My memory about variable scope in PHP is a bit fuzzy, so I'm not positive if the code in Parser.php itself would need to be changed. The variable containing it's version string is a const named VERSION, located on line 55 (according to the line numbering in the ViewVC online code listing, at least). It'd kind of suck to need to change that in order to implement this but... well, personally I'd find the version number of Parser.php (and possibly some other internal version numbers) much more useful then the version numbers that are currently provided. Getting the pageid of a deleted page ?

Regarding the suggestion to return the pageid of deleted pages: I don't mind if this is implemented somehow, but there needs to be something that changes if the page has actually been deleted. It would be easy enough for me to change, but the current behavior, where the pageid isn't returned, is a behavior that I currently rely on. Something needs to say that, despite the fact that the pageid is being return, the page itself is in a deleted state. Regards, Nolan

Pagedeleted error

Hi, It seems that there's a bug with some pages that have been deleted and restaured after that, but without any more modification. For example, on the French wiki, I get the error when trying to edit fr:Charbonnage<http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charbonnage>. The page exists, its last version was one 2010-03-11 at 12:37:19, but it was deleted and recreated later this day (at 17:45). Getting the pageid of a deleted page ?

Hi, I'd like to obtain the pageid of a page, even if the page has been deleted. Requests like this one<http://fr.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?rvprop=content%7Cids%7Ctimestamp&prop=rev…>return the pageid only if the page is still existing. I have written a tool, WikiCleaner<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:NicoV/Wikipedia_Cleaner/Documentation>, that can, among other things, help for the Check Wikipedia Project<http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Stefan_K%C3%BChn/Check_Wikipedia> . When an error is fixed, my tool calls an URL to notify the fix has been done (see the Done button on this page<http://toolserver.org/%7Esk/cgi-bin/checkwiki/checkwiki.cgi?project=enwiki&…> ). In the URL, there's a parameter required for the pageid. When the page has been deleted since the error was detected, I'd like to automatically notify the fix has been done, but I can't get the pageid from the API. Nico
