Hello, an old version of this idea can be found there: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Geocoding/Overlay It shows Commons-maps on Google-earth. Ok, it has no gui-editor, only a very simple transformation (scale+rotate) and depends on property software from google, but it shows a way how to store the rectify-meta-data in commons. The new software should be able to show more than one map at on moment, so that the user can compare it.
