And really, this server needs a better administrator than me. I'm only
doing it because I needed it to develop the SlippyMap extension &
related infrastructure and it seemed like nobody else could be found
to do it. But I'm not familiar enough with how to set such a box up
properly nor do I really have the interest since system administering
isn't a project I like doing in my spare time.
I'm not sure what kind of help you need, but I'd be willing to assist.
I've
offered some assistance in the past, but I'm not sure what would be
needed
to get enough access to help in a meaningful way.
Basically someone else than me who has time and know how (which I
don't really have:) needs to take care of it.
I'll be away from the internet for most of August so if another admin
isn't found the box will be crippled for the near future.
When do you leave and be unavailable?
I'll be off on and off for much of August. This weekend (fri-mon) I'm
doing some volunteer work in the Icelandic highlands far from any GSM
or Wifi reception (and electricity for that matter). Then I'm online
again for 10 days (but trying to be on vacation) and after that I'm
basically offline until wikimania.
I have been travelling and/or sick (still sick) for
most of July, but should
be around much more in August. I signed up for a toolserver account and
then need to be setup on cassini. (username: aude)
For getting some map tools going and other setup, who else is available that
can get root access? Can the current ts admins help with setting things up
similar to how the existing boxes are set?
DaBPunkt (existing toolserver admin) expressed some interest in
helping. But his interests are mostly with the main ts cluster. (But
see my other reply in this thread).
