The Biodiversity Heritage Library
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Biodiversity_Heritage_Library> (BHL) Wikimedia
Working Group is organizing three events to help illustrate Wikipedia in
Spanish (already accomplished
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Event:1Pic1Bio_(Spanish)>), French, and
Portuguese with images from the institutions' South American and African
collections enriched with structured data on Wikimedia Commons.
The events will feature presentations about BHL, its Wikimedia working
group, and the activities of their Wikimedian in Residence with structured
data, as well as how to add images to Wikipedia articles. The
expeditions and production context of the illustrations that led to the
construction of BHL's collections will also be discussed.
These events will happen in their languages (Spanish, French, and
Portuguese) and also have live interpretation in English.

Dear Wikimedia Library Enthusiasts,
Wikimania 2025 is shaping up to be an extraordinary celebration of 20 years of collaboration and knowledge sharing! Happening on August 6-9, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya, with a pre-conference on August 5, this year’s theme is "Wikimania at 20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability."
We are thrilled to invite you to be an integral part of this milestone event by submitting a program proposal. The Call for Program Proposals is open and will run until 31 March 2025. You have the flexibility to contribute in any mode: whether through remote presentations from your home or workplace, pre-recorded submissions, or as an onsite participant in Nairobi.
As a valued partner in Wikimedia & Libraries, you have unique insights into the connections between libraries, Wikimedia projects, and knowledge dissemination. We encourage you to submit proposals that align with this year’s theme. To help spark ideas, here are a few topics that may align with the conference theme:
● Building Inclusive Library-Wikimedia Collaborations: Best practices and case studies for fostering equitable access to knowledge through libraries.
● Sustainable Partnerships: Exploring ways libraries and Wikimedia can collaborate on long-term initiatives to preserve cultural heritage.
● Impactful Knowledge Sharing: Techniques and success stories from Wikimedia projects led by librarians and archivists.
Submit your proposals here: https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2025:Program .
For inquiries, comments, or assistance with your proposal, please email wikimania(a)wikimedia.org. Our team of dedicated volunteers will be happy to guide you.
Additionally, to support you in developing your proposals, the Programme Subcommittee will host a consultation hour: 📅 Today, Thursday, 20 March 🕐 13:00 UTC (Find your local time at https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1742475600) 🌐 Video Call Link: https://wikimedia.zoom.us/j/84172058297 💬 Live Interpretation Available in Arabic, French, and Swahili

Hi, everyone –
We are writing to say that the fourth session of our Starting a Wikidata Project series, originally scheduled for March 18, will not be presented as a live session due to unforeseen circumstances. Instead, we are inviting you to an asynchronous community Slack conversation using the materials prepared for that session by Eric Willey, but welcoming your online participation to complete the experience.
Information and questions will be posted in our #wikidata<https://ld4.slack.com/archives/CGS1Q2WP9> channel in the LD4 Slack Space at our usual starting time on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 16:00 UTC / 5pm CET (Time zone converter<https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1742313600>). The topic of this session is Reporting Your Outcomes and Results, the grand finale to this exploration of how to have a brilliant experience with your Wikidata project. This topic brings the journey full circle, complementing the first session which was about how to bring stakeholders at your institution onboard with your project; this session examines how to show those stakeholders what you and your project have accomplished for your institution.
We hope you'll join us. We'll provide Eric's questions and ideas for some helpful resources. You'll provide great suggestions and discussion. We'll add your thoughts from the Slack interchange to the series project page for this session<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_LD4_Wikidata_Affinity_Gr…> so that future community members starting their first project will have a good place to look for inspiration!
Invite to join LD4 Slack: https://join.slack.com/t/ld4/shared_invite/zt-31379okvn-8IVWvbCZerKnN352sKC… Find us on the #wikidata<https://ld4.slack.com/archives/CGS1Q2WP9> channel.
Looking forward to our discussion!
There will be an intermission in our programming in April as we prepare our next project series. Please stay tuned for announcements in the next few weeks.
