Hello everyone,
I invited people to discuss how the LDN should look like and what should be included in its scopes. Several people responded to the questions and I'm listing the responses below, I'm not mentioning the names of individuals who responded for privacy reasons.
- it's a network of Wikimedia groups and organizations to increase collaboration on leadership topics and share knowledge and experience. It shouldn't be a hub or affiliate.
Kinda like regional or thematic alliances of countries where they all collaborate together.
- a group that encourages the different participants of the wiki movement to create leadership. And as a network we must create ties between us to support different things.
- it become an international meeting of Wikipedians. We can either elect to be a hub, if we want to signify our target which is to help the communities, much like the CEE Hub does in our region. While affiliate allows to be recognised a separate Usergroup so we will be able to gain easier placing and funding like the regional affiliates. So I propose affiliate status.
- For me it's a gathering of Wikimedians wishing to have collaboration between themselves in order to exchange expertise and leadership knowledge that will result in the betterment of the Wikimedia movement as a whole
- LDN is a global network of volunteers who aim to foster robust leadership in the Wikimedia movement.
- revitalising LDN and ensuring Wikimania representation and presence in 2024, doing some online leadership sessions, possibly collaborating with various affiliates and having specific support staff dedicated to the LDN. Will do in person and mass transfer of expertise. And even helping the participant to receive funding, through endorsing
- We do leadership development projects, together, in the form of bilateral collaborations between the LDN partners, store the knowledge for the rest of the world and understand how actually wikimedia leadership works!
I tried to collate the received responses and prepared the following text to describe the LDN and its scopes:
The Leadership Development Network (LDN) is a global network of Wikimedians and Wikimedia groups who share the similar interest regarding the unique leadership in the Wikimedia movement. The network attempts to research, document and develop the unique leadership in the Wikimedia movement through increased collaboration among its stakeholders, knowledge and capacity sharing and empowering the movement participants to take action regarding the movement leadership.
LDN is starting as a non-affiliate wikimedia entity but will seek to gain affiliate status or turn into a hub if the stakeholders agree to do so in the future.
Please share your objections or concerns if you do not agree with any part of this description text. If no objection arises, within October 25, we'll update the LDN meta page with this description and step forward.
