In the past we decided that languages when eligible could be allowed to
Wikidata. Two languages have been added successfully now.
Ah ok. Which are these languages?
When enough labels are added in a language to an item,
all of the
information about it will show up in that language. But even better,
search in a Wiki is extended with WD-search (it takes a line in the
common.js) results will show for the label searched. This means for
instance that when people from the Ottoman empire have their name in
Ottoman Turkish in Wikidata, they will be found and there will be no
mistakes because of all kinds of differing transliterations..
I think the advantages are clear to us.
So my proposal is to add all eligible languages so
that they become
available in Wikidata.
No oppose from me.
Btw, what is the current process to add a language to wikidata? How did the
2 languages you mentioned do it?
