Hi,
As you may or may not have heard, there's a long process of adopting a
Universal Code of Conduct ("UCoC") for all Wikimedia platforms. You can
read more about it here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct
One of the things that are being discussed now is how will this Code of
Conduct be enforced. A proposal under discussion is here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Revised_enforceme…
It's a very long page, and you don't have to read it all if you don't want
to, but there is a part in it that seems to me to have a certain
non-obvious relationship to the Langcom. It recommends a list of people who
should explicitly confirm their adherence to the Code of Conduct once it's
ratified (section 2.1). The current suggestion is Board members, Wikimedia
Foundation staff, Wikimedia affiliates staff, their representatives, and
Wikimedia trademark users.
On the talk page there, I suggested that the Code of Conduct should also be
confirmed by people who request to create new wikis. Here's what I wrote:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Revised_enfo…
Perhaps some of you want to express their opinions there (and feel free to
disagree with me, of course).
Thanks! :)
