As far as I understand, we’re talking about localisation only (e.g. translation of menu items so that people can find the ‘save page’ tab, for example), not about automated script conversion (which would only work from Chinese characters to Roman script and not vice versa anyway).

As long as this is clearly communicated to the community in question (in order to avoid unrealistic expectations), I do agree to allowing localisation in both scripts. The onus of producing such localisation would still be on the cdo:wp community (e.g. via translatewiki.net). Have I understood that correctly?

To me there seem to be no problems with allowing localisation in both Latin and Chinese scripts (similar with Hakka which we had recently).
