Hi,

Sorry but I find this rather innapropriate and contrary to LangCom voting
rules as stated at: <
https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmeta.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FLanguage_committee%2FVoting_policy&data=02%7C01%7C%7C57857d893a0048091e6808d59edabbba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636589584646177925&sdata=jjM1Wdz7W1Jj5KjF%2BXSD%2BbmWbwtbyX5czOknGsv1GQs%3D&reserved=0> and the
closure of projects policy decision policy <
https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmeta.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FClosing_projects_policy%23Decision&data=02%7C01%7C%7C57857d893a0048091e6808d59edabbba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636589584646177925&sdata=ChBxgo77hyK0Hp3WfOxEv22YQS9KiV8pqAELqkfFKFw%3D&reserved=0>.

There has to be a proposal comming from a LangCom member, announced on this
list and to the community, and thereafter a voting has to take place, with
the Board holding ultimate vetoing power.

None of such steps have been taken.

The decision should be reversed as being done against policy.

Thanks, M.

Southern Altai<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmeta.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRequests_for_new_languages%2FWikipedia_Southern_Altai&data=02%7C01%7C%7C57857d893a0048091e6808d59edabbba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636589584646177925&sdata=Ct%2FGmel%2Bn69TWZkglDwIdi%2BvP5MEKaLbNn0TIXa92Eo%3D&reserved=0> (alt), and related request from 2015 for Northern Altai<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmeta.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRequests_for_new_languages%2FWikipedia_Northern_Altai&data=02%7C01%7C%7C57857d893a0048091e6808d59edabbba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636589584646177925&sdata=ROraKuAkIGlsmQRGB6DPQbhJS6SAsAswIND2p0p5MYE%3D&reserved=0> (atv): Altai is spoken by about 55,000 people. Southern Altai is the official language of the Altai Republic, and is the basis for the written language. Test has about 100 pages. There seems to be little doubt Southern Altai should be eligible. I do wonder about Northern Altai, though. It's the official language of Altai Krai, its test has about 30 pages, and it's apparently not fully mutually intelligible with Southern Altai. Amir, do you know anything about these?  I will mark Southern Altai eligible immediately; I will wait a few days for comments, but then will probably mark Northern Altai eligible, too.

Teri Sami<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmeta.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRequests_for_new_languages%2FWikipedia_Ter_Sami&data=02%7C01%7C%7C57857d893a0048091e6808d59edabbba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636589584646177925&sdata=rqTstR%2FMr%2BNgdlExHZNVynGHBA58%2B9%2FtSXTKV23DgwQ%3D&reserved=0> (sjt): Similar argument to Kildin Sami from previous set, though the enwiki article now says that there are two speakers left. There are about 20 pages in the test. Marking as eligible.

Ingrian <https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmeta.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRequests_for_new_languages%2FWikipedia_Ingrian&data=02%7C01%7C%7C57857d893a0048091e6808d59edabbba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636589584646177925&sdata=Am7Y7iggO3cxk%2BTGGRtoUOAjVEB44ETGx099FtVjspU%3D&reserved=0> (izh): Also similar argument to Kildin Sami. (Someone must have done a spurt of languages from Russia back then.) About 100 test pages. Eligible.

Once these three requests have been taken care of, all requests dating back to 2011 or earlier will have been addressed except for Balochi<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmeta.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRequests_for_new_languages%2FWikipedia_Balochi&data=02%7C01%7C%7C57857d893a0048091e6808d59edabbba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636589584646177925&sdata=900c9gC3kSL7dNer2ZPRQ30j10MfOov0Axkxng%2FLIx8%3D&reserved=0> and Eastern Balochi<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmeta.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRequests_for_new_languages%2FWikipedia_Eastern_Balochi&data=02%7C01%7C%7C57857d893a0048091e6808d59edabbba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636589584646177925&sdata=cORD%2F7bsGcteIRR98YQfRiGSC4GvSzo%2F%2Bur%2Bs5Zdgxw%3D&reserved=0>.  The last I recall, Satdeep was looking into that situation, and I am leaving it in his hands.
