I tried to look at some recently written news articles in Wp/shn, but it seems all they do is create templates? Do you know what's going on?

There is a request for approval for a new Wikinews project and it meets the general criteria. Due to the nature of Wikinews, it is worrisome that a small number of editors continue to edit, but this is just my opinion. I'm curious what other colleagues think.

Because Wikinews is as special as Wikisource, I think everyone may have different opinions.
