Subject: Re: [Langcom] eligible / ineligible Wikipedia requests: E
Hello,
I don't know who made this confusing request, but the language is East Frisian Low Saxon. Even if it is classified as Low German, the language differs greatly from it due to the Frisian substrate and the Dutch influence, which is also noticeable in grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.

Marked as eligible:
Edo
Ekpeye

Deleted:
Eastern Arrernte

The other two deserve a separate discussion.

Hallo!

I am going through https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Open_requests_for_new_languages , project by project, letter by letter, up to ten requests per email, one email per day.

I am now working on Wikipedia, and today I'm handling the letter E.

Before I go into proper requests, I should mention that I took the liberty to reject https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikipedia_Eldeine , which appeared to be a one-person constructed language without an ISO code.

== East Frisian ==
Code: frs
My take: I don't have one. The request page is quite confusing. The page title says "East Frisian", but the listed code is "frs", which is listed "East Frisian Low Saxon" in ISO 639 3 and Ethnologue sites, while the English Wikipedia says that the closest thing to just "East Frisian" is stq, in which there is a Wikipedia already. In addition, some people in the discussion claim that this language is the same as nds, and others say that it is distinct. So I cannot propose anything at the moment.

== Eastern Arrernte ==
Code: aer
My take: Probably *Delete*. The language is probably eligible, but the request was created by a blocked user without adding substantial details. I would have already deleted the request page for that reason alone if there wasn't some content in the Incubator: https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex/Wp/aer/ . That content, however, is quite suspect, too: it consists of five pages, all of which are very short, and they were mostly edited by an anonymous user. So the deletion of the Incubator should be considered, too.

== Eastern Balochi ==
Code: bgp
My take: Nothing at the moment, but I am in contact with a promising expert, and I hope to have a more substantial update some time this month. See the email about the letter B.

== Edo ==
Code: bin
My take: Eligible.

== Ekpeye ==
Code: ekp
My take: Eligible.
