Hi,
There's a proposal to redirect the domains with the fil language
("Filipino") to domains with tl language code ("Tagalog").
Links:
*
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Language_committee#c-Sky_Harbor-202607…
* https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T432946
The affected domains will be:
fil.wikipedia.org -> tl.wikipedia.orgfil.wiktionary.org -> tl.wiktionary.orgfil.wikibooks.org -> tl.wikibooks.orgfil.wikiquote.org -> tl.wikiquote.orgfil.wikisource.org -> tl.wikisource.org
We already have redirects from cz to cs (Czech), dk to da (Danish), and tj
to tg (Tajik), although these are a bit different: they redirect from the
*country* code of the country where the language is mainly spoken to the
language code. Also, cz, dk, and tj are not valid two-letter language codes.
fil is a valid language code and not a code of a country.
I don't know this language, but I usually see that "Filipino" and "Tagalog"
are essentially different names for the same language, and while they are
distinguished for social and political purposes, they are essentially one
language. Ethnologue describes Filipino as "Primarily based on Tagalog
[tgl] with some terminology imported from other regional languages".
I think that the Language committee is not supposed to be opposed to this
request, but perhaps someone is opposed to it?

Hello,
On behalf of the Wikimania 2026 organising team, I would like to invite all
of you to serve as judges for the Wikimania 2026 Poster Competition.
The poster session is an important part of Wikimania, showcasing innovative
projects, research, community initiatives, and ideas from across the
Wikimedia movement.
As a judge, you would be asked to review and score the accepted posters
using a simple evaluation rubric. The judging process takes around 2-3
minutes per poster, and you can score as many as you like - the scores will
be averaged.
Your experience and perspective would help us recognise outstanding work
and celebrate the creativity and impact of Wikimedia contributors. We would
be honoured to have your participation.
If you are willing to serve as a judge, please let me know. I will then
provide further information about the judging criteria.
Thank you for considering this invitation. We greatly appreciate your
support of Wikimania and the Wikimedia movement.
