Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Right now we are only working with Commons templates only. This is to get a first operational version of the tool in production on Commons
as soon as possible. Wikidata features have only very recently and gradually been added to Commons and we don’t want to work against a moving target at this point.
After that, and resources permitting – we’re only funded until end of the year, we may look at using the WikiData features now gradually
being added to Commons. But truthfully we’re likely to focus on some other aspects:
However, our project is open source and so if you’d like to add WikiData support to the tool please do so! Or if you want to work with
any other addition of features to the tool – just get in touch.

With Wikimedia Italia we are participating in a European project called EAGLE,
and we are going to upload thousands of images of epigraphies on Commons,
as well as thousands of epigraphies metadata on a personal Wikibase.
I don't know if you are working just with XML to Commons templates, or also with Wikidata?
