Dear GLAM-Wikimedia Community,
We are thrilled to invite you to contribute to Wikimania 2025, which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, on August 6-9, with a pre-conference on August 5. This year’s theme, Wikimania at 20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability., celebrates two decades of collaboration and innovation within our movement.
The Call for Program Proposals is now open, and we strongly encourage you to submit proposals relevant to our theme on or before the 31 March 2025 deadline. Whether you choose to present onsite in Nairobi, remotely, or through a pre-recorded session, we value your insights and expertise.
We welcome all creative and impactful ideas. Here are some examples of sessions that may resonate with the conference theme and GLAM-Wikimedia collaboration:
● Approaches to increasing accessibility in galleries, libraries, archives, and museums through Wikimedia projects.
● Showcasing successful collaborations between cultural institutions and Wikimedia communities, including their effect on public engagement and knowledge sharing.
● Discussions on preserving cultural heritage digitally and ensuring its long-term availability. Medium to long-term partnerships to safeguard cultural heritage.
For inquiries, comments, or assistance with your proposal, please email wikimania(a)wikimedia.org. Our team of dedicated volunteers will be happy to guide you.
Additionally, to support you in developing your proposals, the Programme Subcommittee will host a consultation hour: 📅 Today, Thursday, 20 March 🕐 13:00 UTC (Find your local time at https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1742475600) 🌐 Video Call Link: https://wikimedia.zoom.us/j/84172058297 💬 Live Interpretation Available in Arabic, French, and Swahili

Hi, everyone –
We are writing to say that the fourth session of our Starting a Wikidata Project series, originally scheduled for March 18, will not be presented as a live session due to unforeseen circumstances. Instead, we are inviting you to an asynchronous community Slack conversation using the materials prepared for that session by Eric Willey, but welcoming your online participation to complete the experience.
Information and questions will be posted in our #wikidata<https://ld4.slack.com/archives/CGS1Q2WP9> channel in the LD4 Slack Space at our usual starting time on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 16:00 UTC / 5pm CET (Time zone converter<https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1742313600>). The topic of this session is Reporting Your Outcomes and Results, the grand finale to this exploration of how to have a brilliant experience with your Wikidata project. This topic brings the journey full circle, complementing the first session which was about how to bring stakeholders at your institution onboard with your project; this session examines how to show those stakeholders what you and your project have accomplished for your institution.
We hope you'll join us. We'll provide Eric's questions and ideas for some helpful resources. You'll provide great suggestions and discussion. We'll add your thoughts from the Slack interchange to the series project page for this session<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_LD4_Wikidata_Affinity_Gr…> so that future community members starting their first project will have a good place to look for inspiration!
Invite to join LD4 Slack: https://join.slack.com/t/ld4/shared_invite/zt-31379okvn-8IVWvbCZerKnN352sKC… Find us on the #wikidata<https://ld4.slack.com/archives/CGS1Q2WP9> channel.
Looking forward to our discussion!
There will be an intermission in our programming in April as we prepare our next project series. Please stay tuned for announcements in the next few weeks.
