I added this comment to the altmetric blog article, so thought I would add it to this discussion as well...
The 4 templates as part of the fabulous RefToolbar all have DOI, ISBN, PMID fields so.... :-)
I mention the RefToolbar because I'm not sure if folks know about it when building citations. I find it invaluable.

Please also note there is a citation toolbar (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:RefToolbar) that can be activated by registered Wikipedia users — that utilizes the following templates: cite web, cite news, cite book, cite journal.
I am obsessed with citation cleanup so I use this toolbar all the time. To activate, go to Preferences, Gadgets, Editing, select “refToolbar, adds a “cite” button to the editing toolbar for quick and easy addition of commonly used citation templates.”
It’s WONDERFUL!
