Hello wikimedians,

WikiDonne User Group is pleased to announce the launch of the sixth edition of Wiki Loves Sport, which will take place from 17 July to 22 September 2024. This international contest aims to improve and expand sports-related content on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms (Wikiquote, Wikibooks, Wikidata etc), with a particular focus on often under-represented groups and athletes (women, LGBTQIA+ community, para athletes).

Sporting events covered:

Participation: The contest will take place mainly online, with the possibility of local in-person events. Users of any Wikimedia language are invited to participate and contribute.

Partners: The contest is organized in partnership with ASSIST Associazione Nazionale Atlete, supported by Wikimedia CH and sees since now the participation of several Wikimedia affiliates: Wikimedia Community of Tatar language User GroupWikimedians of Republic of Congo User Group, Wikimédia France, Wikimedians of Cameroon User, Wikimedians of the Uzbek Language User Group, Wikimedia Serbia, Wikimedia Canada, Wikimedia LGBT+.

Objective: The project aims to fill content gaps related to gender, ethnic and linguistic minorities, promoting diversity in sport.
