Some progress…
On a whim I decided to try copying the foreground.css file from the old skin into the new (2.3.0) one, and this fixed all the issues. So it does appear my boss made some modifications to the file. My skill doesn’t
permit me to figure out what those changes are but it doesn’t appear to cripple the new version, so I’m content.
Thanks for the help, everyone…

course these css sheets have a few new stylesheets as it is the latest version. See if your install in production has a odd named one, like custom or dps or dpscustom or navboxes etc. could have also added custom css to end of foreground.css file.
which on the server would be under skins/foreground/assets/stylesheets/.

Where could I check the CSS location? And where can I download 2.4? I didn’t see it published anywhere.

OK, hazarding a guess. That’s not table markup code. They are divs with classes not tables. I’m wondering if on the currently running one you have CSS under MediaWiki:Foreground.css or MediaWiki:Common.css. Actually, not sure why the Foundation 5 classes for columns were not used to make the page float and flow the columns.
Perhaps he added an additional stylesheet? Or added CSS directly to the existing stylesheet?
Not sure what is going on with the ip and oldid= ip could be because it is a dev server.
V2.4.0 is now released but I don’t think that will solve this specific issue. It should take care of everything else on the special pages, image floats, etc.

Both servers are behind a government firewall and accessible to state networkers only. I can share some of the code that seems to snarl the skin-it’s fairly simple <dev> commands to set up tables..
As for the development branch I’d be happy to play with it, but couldn’t find a way to download it. If someone could point me in the right direction I will.
Here is some code from one of the landing pages (offshoot of the main page) that completely breaks with the new skin. The links come up as just a list of hyperlinks with the new skin instead of the pretty buttons on the old one.
<div class="nav-box-container">
<div class="nav-box-item">
Software Troubleshooting / How-Tos
</div>
<div class="nav-box-item">
OSP PC Troubleshooting
</div>
<div class="nav-box-item">
OSP MCT Troubleshooting
</div>
<div class="nav-box-item">
OSP CAD Troubleshooting
</div>
<div class="nav-box-item">
LEADS Agency PC Troubleshooting
</div>
<div class="nav-box-item">
LEADS Agency MDT Troubleshooting
</div>
The only other thing I’ve noticed on the new skin is that I always get a “Retrieved from "http://<IP>/<wikiname>/index.php?title=PC_Troubleshooting_Landing_Page&oldid=7291" on each of the pages, as if it’s having to recall them instead of simply displaying the code?? I think this is the root of the problem but I’m not sure what to do about it. Again, IP and wiki name were redacted.

Is there anyway I could view the development wiki? Can you try using the develop branch? That should give you a version 2.4.0-dev.

Subject: [Foreground] Help if possible
Hello,
I’ve emailed this list before about my difficulties getting MediaWiki 1.35.x to play with the new foreground 2.3.0. My former boss insisted on using a specific template for each page, and although several of you have said foreground works with 1.35, I cannot get it to cooperate with mine. I fully acknowledge the problem is on my side, but I just simply don’t possess the experience to resolve the issue. I’ve attached two images (sorry for the redactions-I work in law enforcement), with one showing our current wiki running MW 1.31.12 and foreground 2.1, and the second our test wiki running MW 1.35 and foreground 2.3.0. I’m trying to get the new version to look like the current one. If anyone can provide any guidance I’d greatly appreciate it. I can provide some of the code used if it would help (<DIV> commands using tables) but the problem exists through the entire wiki, even the special page that has the tabs for appearance preferences. The new foreground seems to break every table and tab.
Again, shot in the dark here, I’m out of ideas. Thanks in advance.
