The May 2026 edition of the EduWiki Newsletter is now available.

This month's 10 stories paint a vivid picture of Wikimedia's reach across classrooms, youth spaces, and research halls alike. From first-time editors to published academics, communities everywhere are finding fresh ways to weave open knowledge into learning.

In Brazil https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Debating_free_license_in_Brazil, the team kept the energy going from the previous month, deepening their work with universities and supporting an expanding range of educational activities nationwide. -

Across Nigeria https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Wikimedia_Digi-Youth_Club_in_Nigeria, Rwanda https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Wiki_Youth_Participation_in_Building_Rwanda%E2%80%99s_Open_Knowledge_Ecosystem, and Tanzania https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Wiki_Digital_Youth_Club_Launches_in_Tanzania:_Youth_Build_Digital_Skills_Through_Competitive_Quest_Challenges, the Wiki Digital Youth Club pilot brought its quest-based learning model to young people in all three countries. -

In Ukraine https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Ukraine_publishes_the_first_academic_collection_of_papers_on_Wikipedia_and_Wikimedia_Projects, a landmark moment for the academic community arrived with the release of the country's first scholarly collection dedicated to Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects. -

In North Macedonia https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Wikimedia_MKD%27s_Education_News_%26_Activities, the education program kept its momentum through a mix of workshops, an editing contest, and a dedicated conference, all oriented around growing free knowledge contribution across educational institutions. -

In Serbia https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Wikipedia_Serbia%27s_interns_and_Wiki_Ambassadors_provide_crucial_support_towards_end_of_the_school_year, as the school year wound down, student interns and Wiki Ambassadors stepped up to keep Wikimedia's educational work running. -

In Albania https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Editing_Wikipedia_with_Viktor_Hygo_High_School_in_Albania, students from Viktor Hygo High School in Tirana got hands-on Wikipedia editing experience through a practical training session organized by the Albanian Language User Group. -

And in India https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Education/News/May_2026/Microclimatic_Explainers:_A_short-form_media_approach_to_build_micro-level_environmental_awareness_in_India, a thought-provoking article made the case for short-form media as a tool for raising awareness about microclimates.

Every story this month is a reminder that there is no single path into the Wikimedia movement. Whether through a school club, a university course, or a published paper, the doors keep opening. We hope something in this edition sparks an idea for your own community.
