Hello everyone,

I have received many answers and I am thrilled to see so much enthusiasm! Now, 25 people are willing to take part in the translation and 13 languages are concerned! It's just awesome.

I have created an article in Meta to organize ourselves: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimédia_France/Actions/Jeu_pédagogique/Translation > you guys can add your user accounts in the table so I can easily reach you.

Here are the next steps: I am sorry for the many languages proposed, but now I need to prioritize English first to have it ready for the 1st of August. For the other languages, you guys can start on your own. As I said, Vjola from Albanian Languages UG made it, so I am sure you will nail it too! Probably waiting for the English version would be wise too.

Anyways, I propose to organise a launching event on wednesday the 28th of june at 4 pm (Paris time) so I can explain you how we can do it, starting with explaining you how the game works!

Meanwhile, you can take a look at the presentation I gave during the EduWiki conference in Belgrade. You will be able to listen to me explaining in poor english how and why the game was conceived, and watch people playing the game.

See you on the 28th of june!

Hello everyone,

My name is Mathilde and I am an education project manager at Wikimédia France. Some of you may have seen me in Belgrade during the Eduwiki conference, as well as in a few Eduwiki meetings online. I am the coordinator of the project Wikeys, the pedagogical game that explains the functionning of Wikipedia (here is the french version, in pdf).

You will find more information on the game in a blog post published in Diff in March this year.

As the subject of this email is probably letting you assume, I am writing on these lists to talk to you about a translation project : we would like to translate the game in English to spread it among the movement. To do so, we would like to involve the movement itself.

Why not simply engaging a professional translator? Two reasons :

The idea is hence to gather a bunch of people (3 to 5) interested in the topic to help Wikimédia France with the translation. Ideally, the translation should take place in July so that the English version is ready for Wikimania! Then, here will be the steps :

  1. The translation will be gathered in the file attached (built by the game designer who created Wikeys)
    > ideally from the 3rd to the 10th of july

  2. After some proof reading, we will send the file to the game designer ...
    > ideally the 17th of july, to have at least a week

  3. ... who will integrate the translation in the English version of the game, in a new pdf file (since the game is in print & play)
    > so we have the english version delivered a least a week before the start of Wikimania.

If any of you is interested, just answer on this email loop. We could then organise a launching meeting to organize the work, on monday 3rd of july, afternoon (Paris timezone). How does that sound?

Kind regards,
