Dear Laura,
I never really thought about having an education program on Wikinews but
it just seems like a wonderful idea. I can envision a university project
during a class for young journalists. Each week, one student writes a
Wikinews article on what he thinks is the most important news of the week.
This could be a refreshing way of recruiting new contributors to sister
projects :-).
There is a Czech language project. It might not be as active, but if there
are some community members there who can get in touch with me, we can try
to do some things like assist them in setting up the technical backend to
allow their stories to be included in Google News. This broadens the
potential audience.
But it is a very good experience for potential journalists because it can
provide them with opportunities to assess existing reporting for things
like neutrality and accuracy. It can also allow them to do original
reporting, which Wikipedia does not allow. Any support you need that I can
provide in English, I would be happy to.
Sincerely,
Laura Hale
