Hello colleagues,
I'm not familiar enough with Wikisource to evaluate this guide, but I'm
forwarding it in case others are interested. Please direct questions and
comments to Ananth.

Dear All,
We all know that Wikisource is one of the trending Wikimedia projects. We
are getting many new editors and new books to Indic language Wikisource's.
At the same time, we even noticed that there are many problems faced by the
new editors and a few of the existing editors. To help all of the editors
we have created a Handbook titled as *Wikisource Handbook for Indic
communities
<
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikisource_Handbook_for_Indian_Comm…
>.
*Which is now available[1] to everyone to make the best use of it. I
request everyone to share this with all those who are in need of support in
editing Wikisource.
Authors of the book: Bodhisattwa Mandal and Ananth Subray P V.

A few weeks back we asked event organizers for ideas about the event metrics they need [1]. We got a lot of great ideas that the CommTech team and I studied carefully. The result, which I’ve just posted on wiki, is a proposal for an ambitious yet achievable set of metrics tools and new reports. The ideas are presented in two parts: the first post describes new metrics features at a high level [2]; the second lists the data types and specific reports we're proposing in detail.
i invite event organizers of all types to review these ideas and please provide your feedback. Did we hit the right balance? What is missing? Please help us help you. We’re listening!

Hi Felix - not much info here about how long you have in terms of teaching time but In terms of content I’d suggest you provide an intro to how editing works, and also (very briefly) the other language Wikipedia’s. These are things that the students are unlikely to know about so add real value. I would also focus time on open licensing - what it is & why it matters to the site. Again, a topic that they are unlikely to have much knowledge of that's both practically and conceptual useful in terms of their digital literacy.
It sounds like a great project and an amazing opportunity!
The other thing that I would make sure of is to pre test with teachers - they don’t need to be from the same school but they do need to understand the age group. Pitch and appropriate level content is the thing people most often get wrong working with children & young people - you need expertise here from people who are teaching your age group day in day out. Ideally, have someone trial while you observe or trial yourself and have staff feedback. You won’t get delivery and content right first time - good teachers are very skilled at improvisation, adaptation on the fly and iterating both for specific groups of learners to improve learning outcomes - something they share with Wikimedians who teach & train adults.
An ideal would be for you to develop your content as a stand alone resource (and openly licence it) - you can publish this online along with your teaching notes and that way teachers and communities around the world get to benefit from and build on your work.
Hope this helps a little and the best of luck!
Josie
