I was imagining that the Search-Team board would be our place to track
ongoing work, so I asked for this freezer to be created to serve as our
backlog for anything that's not in flight.
We can hash this out in more detail in our process talk on Thursday.
Unless there any objections, I'll populate the freezer with some epics in
the mean time; it won't be much effort to retag the small number of tasks I
plan to put in there, and I'm happy to volunteer to do that.

+1 to Nik's request for clarification that almost
everything currently in
the Search Team would move to the freezer?
I was imagining that our "current" work would happen in a "Sprint"
project, even if we're in Kanban mode where that sprint project lasts
forever. That's because Sprint projects support estimates, which I think we
should move toward doing. Since Team projects can't be Sprint projects, we
might end up with 3 levels of project (Freezer - Team - Sprint). Maybe
that's OK, partly because the Freezer is at the dept level?

Hi everyone,
So that we can start thinking about our short and long term futures,
I've had a Search-Department-Freezer
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/board/1218/> project created
to serve as our longer term backlog.
This backlog will contain any work which is not planned to be done in
the next few weeks, and will have tasks broken down by category. This will
help us figure out what's coming next, and help us start putting tasks in
there for our long term objectives. Mainly, I plan to use it to plan out
our future work, and give the team and stakeholders insight into what's
coming next.
My task today is to create a preliminary structure, and then we can
iterate from there. The structure of the backlog will evolve over time as
the team structure and work changes. The board may even be superseded by
another board. For now, I'll leave the backlog column of the
Search-Team-Project workboard as it is, but I would like to get together
with the team leads to triage that at some point.
The freezer is unsuitable for the storage of frozen goods.
Ultimately will we remove stuff from the wikimedia-search team so that we
continue to use the board for short term planning? I get that a single
backlog column in impossible for planning.
