Hello everyone,
As online spaces become increasingly contested, and engaging with the Wikimedia movement becomes more complex in many parts of the world, how can you stay safe without becoming overwhelmed? How do you make thoughtful, proportionate decisions about privacy?
Join us for the next edition of Digital Safety Office Hours, where we will explore practical threat modellinghttps://www.eff.org/document/surveillance-self-defense-threat-modeling: a structured way to think about risks, assess your exposure, and make informed choices. This session includes a hands-on workshop where you’ll begin creating your own personal threat model grounded in your context, your role, and your comfort level.
We will discuss questions like,
1. How do you decide whether you want to be photographed or recorded at an event? 2. Do you add your real name, address, or a photo of yourself to your userpage? 3. Should you connect your Wikimedia activities to your other online or offline identities? 4. What if you already feel like an open book? Is it too late to make different choices?
To attend, email talktohumanrights@wikimedia.orgmailto:talktohumanrights@wikimedia.org with the subject “Digital Safety Office Hours (Session 2)”. We’ll send the call details one day before the session.
1. When: March 27, 2026 2. To include multiple time zones, we will host this session at the following times:
* 9:00 AM UTC (Check your local timehttps://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1764320400) * 07:00 PM UTC (Check your local timehttps://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1764356400)
1. Duration: 60 minutes
The Digital Safety Office Hour is part of a multi-part series. Stay on the lookout for upcoming sessions! In the meantime, check out our Digital Safety Resources Centerhttps://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Human_Rights_Team/Digital_Security_Resources for learning and for practical tips and tools you can use.
Looking forward to seeing you there and learning together.
Warmly,
Human Rights Team
