Just wanted to comment that my my concern is that the preview is presented as a separate place from the list. That may make the user to expect the full article or not realising at first that it is a preview.

If it could be presented in a way that the preview is more connected to the list either visually or using a transition it could help. An example of transition that could work in this context from this article is shown below:
