I object to shutting down #swmt-talk as that channel is
access-restricted to users with global rights. It has been used at times
for useful purposes and discussions not suited to hold in a public
venue. I'm also not entirely sure how that channel falls into the
jurisdiction of the CVN, it was my understanding that it was
administered separately by Barras (Note how Barras is the sole channel
founder, and there's no cvn-gc in there).

I'd be fine with shutting those two down. Until today I didn't know they
existed, and I had only talked to SWMT members in #cvn-sw. I also
occasionally chat in #countervandalism, so I don't see a need for #swmt
and #swmt-talk.

Hey,
Snaj[1] and I were thinking.. our communication on IRC is quite a
bit scattered. Now, most wikis have a home channel for general
chatter separate from their #cvn channel. This makes sense as those
will most likely be related to that wiki (e.g. #wikipedia-nl for
#cvn-wp-nl, #wikimedia-commons for #cvn-commons etc.).
But for more cvn-centric talk and cross-wiki handling or CVN/SWMT in
general (e.g. cloak requests, reporting issues with ClueBot or
CVNBot etc.), we've got ourselves spread rather thin:
* #wikimedia-stewards : This one has (in my perception) organically
grown to be the most active channel. It's not only for stewards, but
also for talking *to* stewards. Something one naturally needs to do
as part of cross-wiki monitoring. So it naturally attracts the right
crowd. In addition, it's also where global sysop and most other
interested parties tend to idle.
* #swmt : Since "sw" is not a single wiki, this is technically the
homewiki channel for #cvn-sw
* #swmt-talk : Additional off topic chat channel
* #countervandalism : Right now only used for requesting
@countervandalism cloaks and for support with CVN bots and channels etc.
#cvn-sw : People do talk occasionally here as well.
(Did I miss any?)
I'm proposing we shutdown #swmt and #swmt-talk in favour of
#wikimedia-stewards, #countervandalism and #cvn-sw.
