Dear Commoners,

As you probably know that Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global behavior guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct[1], often referred to as UCoC. After the months-long policy consultation, we now have a draft policy[2] (available in many languages) and currently in the second phase of the consultation. During this round of consultation, we are discussing the implementation of this policy. That is why we want to hear from the Wikimedia Commons community on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons and what might be needed to do so.

The discussion is taking place here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Universal_Code_of_Conduct_consultation

Some of you already have participated in the discussion. But we need to hear from more of you. So please participate and share your opinion and pass this message to anyone you think might be interested. I have posted a few basic questions on the UCoC discussion page[3] to know your opinions on enforcing the UCoC on Commons more clearly. Please feel free to suggests other challenges regarding UCoC enforcement as well.

We encourage you to express your opinion publicly. However, we are aware that all opinions cannot be address publicly. So if you want to share your opinion privately, you can do so by emailing me[3] as well. Please drop me an email or message on my talk page[4] in case you would like to arrange a one-to-one meeting.

Importantly, please do not hesitate to participate in the discussion even if you are a newcomer. Tell us, what is important to you to make your stay more pleasant and safe. If you are an experienced user, let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.

Wikimedia projects are governed by all of you, regardless of where you come from, your involvement, or how new or experienced you are. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.

Thank you!

Best wishes,

Tanvir
