When I was in Hobart recently for Linux Conference Australia 2009 the "Steve Irwin" (the Flagship of the Sea [[Shepherd]] anti-whaling group) had just pulled in to port for refueling and supplies. I had a chat with their photographer who was documenting events and said that wikipedia would be very interested in hosting their "action shots/videos". [I didn't have the time to explain the difference between Wikipedia, Commons etc. :-) ] I gave him my card and will hopefully hear from them when the whaling season is over. I made sure to explain the priniciple of encyclopedic NOPV - and that we would not be "promoting" their cause but would be very willing to host their documentary images/video if it were licensed appropriately. We'll see how we go!

It seems members of the anti-scientology movement are interested in contributing to commons - I've heard tell of some early en-wiki volunteers being previously active in usenet scientology discussions, so it's interesting to see the next generation plugging in...
