Information is very scattered, but I added some links from
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Content_partnerships and its
parent category (although not all releases are actual "partnerships").
There's probably more stuff on OTRS wiki:
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=OTRS/permissions-en-guide&direction=prev&oldid=758179>
Actual guides, best practices etc. should be developed on Meta; in the
meanwhile I've added kaldari's examples to the draft page
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Verifying_permissions#Case_studies>
(which should probably merged with some other page, see talk).

And that is why you don't ask the legal department. The cases far more
useful if you can use the information in them to track down what
actualy went on.
Maybe, or maybe not; you can add to the page linked above yourself, I guess.
