absolutely thrilled to announce the final results of this year's Photo and
Content Writing Competitions!
This year, we saw an incredible outpouring of creativity and dedication
from volunteers around the globe. Together, we successfully documented the
rich traditions, culture, and spirit of Ramadan, making this knowledge
freely accessible to the world.
*📸 Photo Competition Results* Our jury had the difficult but inspiring
task of reviewing *5607 *of stunning images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.
From breathtaking mosque architecture to vibrant Iftar gatherings, the
visual heritage of Ramadan has been beautifully preserved.

*✍️ Content Writing Competition Results* In parallel, our editors worked
tirelessly to close the knowledge gap regarding Ramadan across multiple

- Bookmarks display correctly and are no longer empty
- Rotated photos now display without border artifacts
- Support for Android API level 36
- Upload activity no longer shows stale edited images
- Nearby map pins render correctly, with red pins appearing above green
pins for better visibility
- Bug fixes and stability improvements

I would like to share a new tool: Commons SVG Validator.

Commons SVG Validator was developed after repeatedly encountering SVG
compatibility, cleanup, and validation issues during Wikimedia Commons
workflows. Contributors often need to manually identify unsupported
elements, remove unnecessary metadata, sanitize files, optimize SVG
structure, and verify that files are suitable for Commons uploads.
The tool aims to simplify that process by providing validation,
sanitization, repair, and compatibility analysis in a single interface
before files are uploaded to Commons.
Key features:
• SVG validation against common Wikimedia Commons compatibility issues
• Detection of potentially unsafe elements such as script, foreignObject,
iframe, embed, and object tags
• Detection of editor metadata and unnecessary SVG bloat
• Analysis of SVG complexity and unsupported features
• ViewBox, text element, embedded image, and external reference checks
• Commons compatibility scoring and readiness assessment
• Automatic SVG sanitization
• Automatic SVG repair for common structural issues
