Spanish Wikipedia's art coverage grows thanks to professor
Lila Pagola, a professor at the National University of Villa María in Argentina, started teaching with Wikipedia back in 2007. The lack of good information on the Spanish Wikipedia on topics related to art, her specialty, spurred her to work with her students to add articles on Latin American photography to Wikipedia, and she's been hard at work using Wikipedia in her classroom ever since. Read about her project in Argentina.

Hi everyone,
After nearly 3 years at the Wikimedia Foundation, I am moving on to new
opportunities [1]. My last day at WMF will be Friday, 22 February. This has
been a very difficult decision. The work that all of us engage in on a
daily basis in the Wikipedia Education Program has been so incredibly
inspiring, and I know I will miss you all. You are such an amazing and
brilliant group of people, and I feel enormously fortunate to have had the
opportunity to work closely with so many of you.
I plan on staying in touch with many of you, and I hope you'll do the same.
My personal email address is a12lin(a)gmail.com; I can also be reached via
Facebook (feel free to contact me anytime, about anything). And, you'll
likely still see me lurking around Wikipedia Education Program -related
activities as a volunteer, and I'll still be more than happy to help out in
the ways that I can with the development of Wikipedia education programs
worldwide, so don't hesitate to reach out to me anytime!
For more formal WMF-related things that you used to send to me, please send
them to my colleague LiAnna Davis after 22 February — ldavis(a)wikimedia.org.
Take care, everyone. Thank you all, so very much.
Annie
[1] If you want to know what I'm moving on *to*, just email me at the
personal email address above and I can tell you!

Cairo class creates Spanish literature portal
Dr. Abeer Abd El-Hafez teaches Spanish at Cairo University, and her class has participated in both terms of the Wikipedia Education Program in Egypt so far. Last term, her students excelled at adding content related to Spanish literature to the Arabic Wikipedia. This term, her students have added three Featured Articles and one Good Article, but they didn't stop there. Students also created a portal on the Arabic Wikipedia about Spanish literature, and they've nominated that for Featured status as well. Check out the portal.

Welcome (back), Rod Dunican!
Rod Dunican re-joined with Wikimedia Foundation family last month as the director of the Wikipedia Education Program.
