Dear Members of the Wikimedia AI Mailing List,
As active contributors and enthusiasts in the application of Artificial Intelligence and advanced computing strategies to Wikimedia projects, I highly encourage you to submit your proposals for Wikimania 2025, celebrating 20 years of community collaboration and innovation.
This year's conference will take place on August 6-9, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya, with a pre-conference on August 5. The theme, "Wikimania at 20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability.", encourages us to reflect on how our collective efforts can create a more inclusive, impactful, and sustainable Wikimedia ecosystem.
The Call for Program Proposals closes on March 31, 2025, and we would love to see contributions from you that explore the intersection of AI and Wikimedia’s mission.
To help spark ideas, here are a few AI-related topics that align with the conference theme:
● Applications of AI to enhance the accessibility of Wikimedia content across languages and for users with diverse needs.
● AI-driven tools to improve content quality, such as vandalism detection, content recommendation systems, or automated citation generation.
● Strategies to ensure the ethical and responsible use of AI in Wikimedia projects, or how AI can support community governance and long-term engagement.
Proposals can take various formats to suit your vision:
● Remote live sessions at the comfort of your home or workplace;
● Pre-recorded presentations;
● Live, in-person presentations in Nairobi, interactive workshops or panel discussions
We believe your unique insights and expertise can make a valuable contribution to Wikimania 2025, inspiring and empowering the Wikimedia community.
