wikimedia-l is using 100 kb. I would suggest that size. The reasonning is that even with no footer image or embedded image, it occurs fairly frequently that messages are bumped only because we keep the context below our own message. I have no memory of messages rejected on wikimedia-l for size issues. so the diff between 80 and 100 kb might be just sufficient to avoid the messages being rejected because of "too much text" whilst filtering out the messages with images.

Hi, Messages coming through the list of size more than 80kb will be discarded. Ways to keep messages less than the 80kb threshold is to include no footer images, or embed any form of images in the message. Any images you want to share, please include a link to them in the email instead. thanks _______________________________________________ African-Wikimedians mailing list African-Wikimedians@lists.wikimedia.org <mailto:African-Wikimedians@lists.wikimedia.org> https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/african-wikimedians
Would not it make sense to actually adopt a similar size limit than the one used on most Wikimedia related mailing lists ? Florence
As per Florence's suggestion, and because wikimedia-l has a 100kb threshold, this mailing list threshold will be increased to 100kb immediately after this email.
Time will tell, because messages bounced recently as a result of big size all were more than 100kb, so some messages will soon still be caught, and when they do, how fun it'll be!
Unless there's any objection to her suggestion, I'm changing the size limit now On Apr 6, 2016 09:05, "Florence Devouard" anthere@anthere.org wrote:

Note that I support immediately bumping the bigger emails (rather than maintaining them into moderation). Less work for admins. And each time we forget the footer picture... we can send the message again without it.
