In our drive to close the online gender gap, we are glad to introduce you
to WikiGap Online Challenge.
The contest was designed by Wikimedia User Group Nigeria. in partnership
with the Swedish embassy in Nigeria, African Women in the Media, Wiki In
Africa, Wiki Women in Red to improve the coverage of Nigerian women on
- *What*: This is a Nigerian public writing competition to create and
improve articles that will strengthen Wikipedia coverage of Nigerian women.
The winners will receive great prizes. The Challenge is organized as part
of the global WikiGap <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiGap> campaign
by Wikimedia Nigeria in collaboration with African Women in the Media (
AWIM) and the Embassy of Sweden in Nigeria.
- *Who*: Any Wikipedian with a named account (on any wiki, including the
incubator) can participate. To participate you just need to sign
up on the
- *When* The writing challenge will run from 00:01 on 29 April (GMT
+01:00) until 23:59 on 13 May 2020 (GMT +01:00).
- *How*: The contest is simple in structure, based on a KISS
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_principle> point system: You get
improving articles, with the goal for each participant to gain as many
points as possible.
