Dear Wikimedians, Especially from Africa, apologies that this has come in, really really late, nevertheless, thought the list can know about the above OpenStreetMap Conference happening in the next few hours in Kampala. Details at http://sotmafrica.org It's a pity that we do not have a session about Wikipedia/Wikimedia Projects, however, Wikimedia Usergroup members in Uganda and other African countries are strongly involved in the organisation of the above conference, and this is just a start, we highly hope to have more involvement of Wikimedia in the future events. Hi Douglas, I am glad to hear there is a group working on the ground and I will be attending the conference. I will be presenting on "Cross collaboration across open movements in Africa" using Wikipedia and Open Street Maps as a case study, talking especially on how both communities can benefit and make each others work relevant. I will showcase how Wikipedia makes use of geodata (coordinates) in articles of places and suggest new ways we can work together.
