Hello everyone,

I would suggest taking this as an opportunity to improve all these articles so they are in no way eligible to be deleted.  That way we win two times over, we have prevented the articles from being deleted and we have improved Africa related content on Wikipedia.

It is also always a good idea to know what to lookout for in an article that might get it deleted such as plagiarism, lack of proof of notability (this is some times tricky to deal with), written in a promotional or otherwise unencyclopedic way, or simple lack of content.

Wikipedia Guide to deletion

It is also important to keep an eye open for articles that are proposed for deletion so they can be challenged in the talk page.

Cheers,

Douglas.

Ladies and gentlemen,

These articles are of men with great importance not just to Africans but to the entire global community and individuals and insititutions within their respective disciplines.

Are we going to completely kill their articles on Wikipedia because of beaurucracy or are we going to save the pages for posterity sake, come on fellas, we can surely reason above this like the smart people I respect us all to be.

May common sense prevail in the end,

Contrary, for the rocky dawuni article I d be interested as well where the copyright infringement was. I do not like that without admin permission it is not possible to look this up...

Second, here is the link provided to state that the article is a copyvio:

(quick assessement... if there is a copyvio... it is obviously not about the entire article)

Interestingly, the copyvio was reported by an IP. And as a treatement, it proposed speedy deletion of the entire article.
The page was restored by Spearmind.
The page was blanked again by the same IP.
The page was restored by MyNameIsVlad
The IP then proposed a different template and blanked the article
followed edit warring (which is never a good solution...)
Then deletion

Here is the report for Copyvio: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyright_problems/2015_March_5

Rupert... do you feel like investigating the case ?
