Dear African Wikimedians,
We are excited to announce the launch of *WIKI LOVES PRIDE 2025
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Event:Wiki_Loves_Pride/2025>. *is a global
campaign to expand and improve LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia
projects, organized by Wikimedia LGBT+. It takes place throughout the
entire month of June in celebration of the International
This year, the focus is "*Write Us In*" and we are calling on Wikimedians
who are LGBTQI+ or interested in LGBTQI+ stories and contents across the
world to join us in writing in LGBTQI+ histories, perspectives, and
advocacy efforts for justice and inclusion on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia
projects.
This challenge is an opportunity to:
- Improve and create articles related to historical injustices,
reparations, and African resilience.
- Upload images and media to Wikimedia Commons to visually represent key
moments in African history.
- Translate content into African languages to ensure wider accessibility.
- Engage in edit-a-thons and training sessionsto collaborate with fellow
Wikimedians.
As part of the event this year, we have a call for NODES with financial
support for any group planning to organise events. We are actually keen to
work with regions and groups around the world that have limited
representation of content on LGBTQI+ issues.
If you wish to organise a NODE and apply for support, please kindly visit
this page and fill out the form
<https://queeringwiki.limesurvey.net/wikilovespridenodes?lang=en>

Hello all,
It’s me — back a little earlier this year with exciting news!
On behalf of the Wiki Loves Women team
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_Women/Team>, I’m thrilled to
announce that the #SheSaid campaign
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Wiki_Loves_Women/SheSaid>
is running again in 2025! From September 1st to December 31st, we’ll once
again be celebrating and amplifying the voices of remarkable women across
Wikiquote and beyond.
To help you bring your #SheSaid ideas to life, here are the Wikimedia Rapid
Grant <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Rapid> deadlines you
need to keep in mind:
-
Cycle 1, 2025 — Deadline: July 1, 2025
-
Cycle 2, 2025 — Deadline: September 1, 2025
Important note: If you plan to join this year’s campaign, Cycle 2 might be
too late to get the support in time — we highly recommend applying in Cycle
1 to ensure your grant is approved before the campaign begins.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss ideas, I’m happy to
answer them here or on Telegram <https://t.me/+V4gvV4HK_4RhZmI0> —
whichever works best for you.
As a reminder of what we can achieve together: in the last edition, a total
of 11,029 articles were created or improved — with 10,091 new and 938
improved articles across 19 language Wikiquotes. These incredible
milestones reflect the power of global collaboration, driven by 18
dedicated communities around the world.
Let’s make this year’s #SheSaid campaign louder, bolder, and more impactful!
Cheers!
Afek

Call for Proposals: LD4 2025 Conference - Linked Data in the Real World
Conference Dates: 28-30 July, 2025 (online)
Submission deadline: May 30, 2025
Submission form: https://forms.gle/61reaRvXWrS6bbUx5
There’s still time to submit a proposal for the LD4 2025 Conference! If
you've been thinking about contributing, we’d love to hear from you.
The LD4 2025 Conference invites proposals for presentations, lightning
talks, and workshops that highlight the real-world applications of linked
data in GLAM institutions (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums).
Possible topics could include:
-
From pilot to production - the life cycle of a linked data project
-
Building sustainable and scalable linked data workflows
-
Strengthening connections through linked data
-
Project how-tos and case studies
We encourage you to submit a proposal for any of these session formats:
-
10 minute lightning talks
-
30 minute presentations (inclusive of a Q&A portion)
-
Workshops (longer form how-to's, show & tell, and participatory sessions)
We are especially encouraging proposals from participants from groups and
regions that are traditionally underrepresented in conferences related to
linked data in libraries and other cultural heritage organizations, as well
as proposals from early career professionals. Successful proposals will
focus on concrete ways that linked data is used in GLAM (Galleries,
Libraries, Archives, and Museums) institutions, and will share pathways
that allow others to participate in linked data.
The conference is an initiative of the LD4 Community <http://ld4.io>. The
conference is free of charge, and we will reach back out to let everyone
know when registration is open. You can see up-to-date information on the 2025
LD4 Conference Website
<https://sites.google.com/view/2025-ld4-conference/home>.

Dear Wikimedians,
We’re excited to share that the Wiki Loves Africa 2025 photography campaign
has successfully concluded, and over 30,400 incredible images have been
submitted from across the continent under the theme ‘’FARM TO PLATE’’.
As we move into the next phase of the competition, we invite committed
Wikimedians to volunteer for the First Review round that precedes the
International
Jury process.
As a first-round reviewer, you will help us to:
-
Review the submitted images.
-
Identify images that relate to the theme.
-
Identify images that meet the contest’s criteria (e.g., are NOT
copyright violations, have watermarks).
-
Identify images of obvious quality (e.g. are NOT screenshots,
cropped, obviously
blurred, pixellated, or of poor quality)
-
Identify and filter out AI-generated or augmented images.
The first review will take place from the 26th May to the 2nd June 2025. We
will be using the Montage tool, and the process will last for about 5 hours
max.
If you're interested in being part of the first round review, please
respond to this form

by the 23rd of May.
