Thanks for the question and suggestion! The middle serif is used to
reference/match the "crossed" V
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_Libertine#Usage> design of the W
in the Wikipedia wordmark (also used for the W in the Wikisource wordmark).

Removed middle serif.
Broadened right leg of W to give symmetry.
