Thanks. I too believe there will be interest among external funders, and I could see us respond to calls in this space, e.g. https://www.volkswagenstiftung.de/en/funding/our-funding-portfolio-at-a-glance/artificial-intelligence-and-the-society-of-the-future . But this would imply knowing some more details on the actual needs and on related matters.

Hi Daniel,

Great to see you here on the list!

The small, exploratory team working on it right now is part of the annual plan that is being submitted to the Board.

An approved annual plan is a commitment to fund the project. We do believe the project will be of interest to external funders. We’ll test that assumption and if there is interest, we will pursue grants in support of the project this year.

The annual budget for the project will likely be in the same order of magnitude as Wikidata was when it was getting started, but the project is expected to take a longer initial time frame.

Cheers,
Denny

Hi all,

I am not aware of details on the funding of Abstract Wikipedia, neither the funding needs nor currently available funds or any function of budget (estimated, approved, requested, targeted etc.) over time.

Thanks for any pointers,

Daniel
