As automatic
script conversion is possible, there's really no reason to
keep mo.wp at all. You can just remove it completely. That requires just
one small edit to the subdomain mapping. Should be much easier than a
rename to 'mo-cyrl' which still uses the deprecated code.
Since there is
currently no automatic conversion script and a very low
likelyhood that Romanian Wikipedians would ever accept such a thing on
their Wiki, I disagree. I think mo.wp should be moved, if anything (to
mo-cyrl - or ro-cyrl, since mo is now deprecated). If and when a
conversion script is made and implemented, it would make sense to me
to delete it completely.
mo.wp has 401 articles, most of them stubs and substubs.
None of the
articles has been updated since 4 years. It's hardly a useful educative
resource for anybody. If Romanians oppose an on-wiki conversion (a claim
I can hardly contest) we can create a solution with more distance.
Instead of the on-wiki solution with tabs we can create ro-cyrl as a
wiki that mirrors ro.wps contents but is read-only and has Cyrillic
conversion by default. That way ro.wp keeps the same and the
Transnistrians get access to the full body of contents on ro.wp. The
results won't be perfect if ro.wp doesn't use the conversion syntax e.g.
for marking foreign names, but it'll be better than the current content
of mo.wp for sure.
