What you see is that I care about performance. This is not the kind of
feature that should be implemented without careful consideration of the
consequences. So yes, performance may override language support for some
time. When it is clear that this feature is to be implemented, it takes some
careful planning and the implementation of the extra infrastructure before
it goes live. There is an end to the time that performance remains a valid
argument that prevents this kind of language support

of the GB and US populations it would split the cache
and
effectively double the cache size.
