I'm not quite sure if it's what you're looking for, but the only number I recall hearing fairly recently was Brianna's stat of 10641 new user accounts created in one 24 hour period this year for EN, and that this was a fairly standard number. There was also a breakdown of how those new accounts faired over a period of time.
