Hoi,
We were discussing making the uploading from Picnic and making it something
that would be available to everyone. I am sure some bright light will create
a bot to "improve" pictures with a bot.. by making the uploading from Picnic
available to everyone, it will just happen and the results will not be good
because of the escalation to the existing controversy that it will bring.
Thanks,
Gerard

Hoi,
Improving of the 'quality' of pictures is not in and of itself something
that is not without controversy. There have been fierce fights in the
past
over exactly this subject and there are a great
many people that do not
upload to Commons as a result.
The notion that there is software that allows you to improve pictures
needs
to be handled with caution. I have seen tragic
attempts of improvement
that
were anything but. It is nice to have tools that
allow you to work on
pictures, it needs judgement to know when to do this. Giving the
possibility
to overwrite existing pictures to everyone is
imho NOT a good idea.
Everyone (account > 4 days) already has this possibility. It's just
now they have to do it manually, by downloading the file, editing up,
and uploading it again.
